The certification
of CEDPA Certified Trainers is part of CEDPA’s efforts under
its Women’s Leadership Program (WLP) to develop a worldwide
network of Trainers available to work with CEDPA and its partners
to identify, train, and mentor Women Leaders. The goal of WLP
is to ensure that women have the necessary leadership skills
to expand key reproductive health and women’s empowerment programs
and to advocate for women’s rights at the local, national, regional
and/or international levels. Forming a cadre of highly skilled
trainers to support these efforts is critical to achieving this
goal.
CEDPA’s certification process comprises
four stages, which together take approximately one year to complete
and are financed by CEDPA/WLP.
They are:
v
Advanced
Training of Trainers Workshop;
v
Development
of Personal Learning Plan by the WLP/Alumni
v
Ongoing
Mentoring and Development between the Africa Region Training
Advisor and the WLP Alumni;
v
Independent
Design and Facilitation of a Workshop by WLP Alumni.
Throughout the process, the candidates work with a team
of internationally experienced CEDPA Trainers, led by Africa
Region Training Advisor.
This process provides experienced Trainers with an intensive,
high level learning experience that focuses on strengthening
participatory, learner-centered training skills. Each stage
includes a combination of self-evaluation and assessment by
the CEDPA Africa Region Training Advisor and colleagues to support
and develop ATOT candidates’ capacity to
conduct high quality training programs.
Upon successful completion of the four stages, candidates
will be certified as CEDPA Master Trainers.
